SCGC Partners with MNRE to Drive “Nature Positive”

Mangrove Restoration, Rebalance Marine Ecosystems

Chanthaburi ,May 2026,13…SCG Chemicals (SCGC) reinforced its commitment to environmental stewardship by supporting the 16th National Mangrove Seminar and National Mangrove Forest Day 2026. Held at the King Rama IX International Mangrove Botanical Garden, the event was presided over by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), Suchart Chomklin. The gathering brought together key officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), provincial leaders, and network partners to advance the protection of Thailand’s vital coastal ecosystems.

In alignment with its ongoing ESG strategy, SCGC has been a pivotal partner in the DMCR’s sustainable mangrove management initiative since 2022, restoring more than 1,100 rai across Rayong, Chonburi, and Phetchaburi provinces, aiming for a “Nature Positive” impact. Notably, SCGC is the first private entity in Thailand to receive the Premium T-VER certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for its sustainable mangrove management and carbon sequestration initiatives. Additionally, SCGC has consistently collaborated with the Marine and Coastal Resources Office 1 to restore over 480 rai (during 2017-2025) of mangrove forests in Rayong province.

Beyond reforestation, SCGC is deploying advanced innovations to safeguard marine biodiversity and restore ecological balance. These initiatives include the SCGC Fish Home project to enhance aquatic habitats, the installation of 72 SCGC-DMCR Litter Traps across 19 coastal provinces to intercept marine debris, and the Nets Up project, which upcycles discarded fishing nets into high-quality marine materials. The event concluded with a keynote address on mangrove conservation by Prof. Dr. Sanit Aksornkoae, President of the International Society for Mangrove Ecosystems (ISME), followed by collaborative mangrove planting and the release of aquatic species into the wild.
